Rachel Thomas Skelly

Rachel Thomas Skelly was born Feb 1844, in
Bedford County, Pa. She was the daughter of Michael
Thomas, b. about 1795 and Mary A. (possibly May)
Thomas. Known siblings are Augustus b. abt
1842, Henrietta abt 1846 and Mary
Catharine abt 1849.
Rachel married John W.
Skelly, born Dec 1835. They resided in the "West End" of
Bedford County, Pa. Shortly after 1880, they moved briefly to WV and then
Allegany County, MD.
John and Rachel became the parents of sixteen children. The first 15 children
were born in PA. They are (not in birth order): Friendous,
Florence, Abraham, Mary Catherine, Megoria Anna, Cecelia, Susan Delara, Sarah
Elwilda, Joseph Norbert, Michale William, Samuel Leo, Frank, Elnorah Jane, John
H., and Charles.
The last child, Ralph Benedict Skelly, was born
in WV.
John died in 1915, and Rachel died in 1917. Both are buried in the St.
Ambrose Catholic Church in Cresaptown, MD.
