George and Deborah Standing married Nov 22,1855
in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1870 from
Lancashire, England to Iowa. They came on the ship the Idaho. They settled in an
area in southern Dallas county just north of Earlham.
George was a tea taster. He also was a storekeeper in Leigh, Lancashire,
England.
Both George and Deborah grew up Quaker continued in their Quaker faith in the
conservative Bear Creek Friends meeting near Earlham.
George farmed in the Earlham area. He died near Earlham on March 14, 1912.
Deborah preceded him in death on April 16, 1901.
