John Henry Bartels and Anna Clauson wedding photos.
John Henry Bartels was born 14 Dec 1841 in Hanover Germany, came to America as a
teenager and was granted citizenship 15 Mar 1870 in Havana, Mason County, IL.
Anna was born 30 May 1848 also in Hanover. She came to America about 1870, where
she met and later married John H. Bartels. They were married 27 July 1871 in
Mason County, IL.
Their first four children - Margaret, Herman, Elizabeth, and Kathryn were born
in IL. Herman died at about age 2 in 1875, Kathryn died as an infant in June
1876. The family moved to Lincoln, NE in 1880, where Henry was born in 1883. In
1885, the family homesteaded 16 miles south of Spencer, Boyd County, NE. Emma
Bartels was born on the homestead 21 May 1887.
John Henry Bartels died 11 Nov 1897. Anna died 22 Apr 1905. Both are buried in
Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
