You can search the 1930 Census for
free - for fourteen days - a full two
weeks - with a Free trial. You'll
need to give your information and credit
card number. And, your credit card will
be charged at the end of the 14 days.
But - you have 14 days to:
- Search for your ancestors, locate
their census records and print out the
images for your file
- View ALL other records on
ancestry.com - Death Records, Birth
Records, Immigration Records, Old
Newspapers, Family History Books,
Military Records - everything.
- Kick the tires. Try it before you
buy it. (I wish I could have done this
with the last vacuum cleaner I
bought.)
- Decide if you'd like to be a
subscriber. If you like having
the access to the records, do nothing.
You'll be billed monthly or annual -
which ever you selected (and monthly
has no long term contract - you can
subscribe for just a month or two).
If you decide that ancestry's not for
you, just call and cancel on the 14th
day (write it on the calendar - or put
a post it note near the phone).
Imagine what
you'll be able to find out about your
ancestors! Census
takers collected the following
information for each household:
- Address (name of the street,
avenue, or road; house number)
- Occupant (name of each person and
their relationship to head of family)
- Residence (whether home is owned
or rented; value of home; whether home
is farm residence; whether home has a
radio)
- Personal (sex, race, age, marital
status, college attendance, ability to
read and write, birthplace, and
birthplace of parents)
- Citizenship (language spoken
before coming to the United States;
year of immigration; whether
naturalized or alien; ability to speak
English)
- Occupation (trade or profession;
industry or business working in; class
of worker; whether worked the previous
day; line number of unemployment
schedule)
- Military (whether veteran or not;
war or expedition participated in)
