Nicholas Thevenin and Mary Liter Loucks

Nicholas Thevenin left France and sailed on the American ship
"Pennsylvania" (Capt. Harding) from Le Havre and reached Philadelphia on Feb.
26th. 1790. He then came to the town that is now known as Gallipolis, Ohio with
a Ohio Company's attorney. Nicholas and most of his descendants remained in
Gallipolis, Ohio area and some ventured to West Virginia across the Ohio River.
He has a town just south of Gallipolis named for him, but the name was spelled
as it sounded. It is called Thivener, Ohio. Many of the Thevenin descendants
adopted the spelling of Thivener and some spell it Tivener & Tivner.
Nicholas Thevenin, b.1771 France [Member of the "French 500" of Gallipolis,
Ohio] died 20 Feb 1850 Gallia Co. Oh.
Mary Liter Loucks b. 1790, died 17 Feb 1874 Gallia Co. Oh.
Nicholas married first to Anne of France, 2nd to Hannah Mion Berthe of
France, and 3rd to Mary Loucks.
Nicholas had one known son by Anne. Francis Collin Thevenin,
b. 25 Feb. 1792 Gallia Co. Oh. died 22 Jan. 1893 Gallia Co. Oh.
Nicholas had three known daughters by Mary Loucks. Margaret, Maria and Julia
Thevenin.
