Cecilia Burke Kaylor

Cecelia Burke (1830-1909), wife of James J. Kaylor (1828-1894).  James was steward of the Cambria County Home for ten years, from 1858 to 1868.  His homestead was in Allegheny Township near Loretto.

James J. and Cecilia Burke Kaylor became the parents of the following children:

  • Irene Kaylor O'Neill Fisher (1869-1955). Irene married William O'Neill (1874-1911). William was a principal of the Tunnell Hill School, a one time secretary of the Cresson School Board, and did clerical work for the Lackawanna Steel Company.  Father McHugh was his uncle.  The O'Neill homestead was in Munster Township, Cambria County.

 

  • Ida Mary Kaylor (1865-1921) who became a Sister of Mercy in Pittsburgh and was known as Sister Mary James.

 

  • Louis Kaylor (1870-1947) Editor and Proprietor of the Cambria Tribune

 

  • Harold Kaylor (1867-1912) A merchant of Johnstown, who at one time controlled all the news routes in and between Johnstown and Altoona.  He was the largest stockholder in the Johnstown Journal a daily newspaper he started with Harry Benshoff.
