Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church

The old Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redbank Twp., Armstrong County, PA, which was erected on the
Philip Haupt property, along with him giving and deeding land for the cemetery.
The Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran congregation broke off from
"sharing" the buildings at the old White Church (which burned, and was
replaced with the new and present Church, which later became Trinity in Alcola, now Clarion County,
PA.), and built their own church. The church dates back to circa 1850 period of time. It no longer stands but had stood right at the end and a little to the right of the present bridge coming from now Hawthorn, PA. on Walker Flat Road.
Maria "Catharine" Shick Mohney, great
great grandmother of the submitter, is buried in this Cemetery and she died in 1851.There was a meeting in this church
about 1852 regarding the building of the Railroad. The cemetery had been in deplorable condition, but Mrs. Ruth
Shick and two of her daughters: Sally Shick Yount & Betty Shick Neese cleaned and cleared it out in spite of rumors of poisonous
snakes.
