The two story brick house built by the first John McDonald
abt 1760 is still inhabited. It is on the road between Rilton and Guffey, PA .
It is on land he obtained from the Shawnee who had a camp nearby. His wife
may have been Shawnee.
Around the corner is the log McGrew Blockhouse built by James
McGrew around the same time. It is about to fall down which is a
real pity. The McGrews became Quakers and early
members of the family are buried in the old Quaker Burial Ground off of Mars
Hill Road, Irwin, PA. The McDonalds attended
Long Run Presbyterian Church and some of the family are buried there.
