Joseph Buffington Jackson

Submitted by Martha Henriod, great great granddaughter of Joseph Buffington Jackson, granddaughter of John Jackson and daughter of Gwendolyn Jackson

Joseph Buffington Jackson was born to John Jackson of Armstrong Co. and Elizabeth McCartney of Indiana Co., on Nov 21, 1845 and died Jan 21, 1927.

He served as a Private of Company D, Second Battalion, Pennsylvania Infantry Volunteers from 1863 to 1864. He married Caroline McNary of Washington Co., on June 26, 1873 in Cannonsburg, PA. Caroline was the daughter of William McNary and Margaret Murry.

Joseph came from a family of ten children and was one of five brothers to serve in the Civil War. After the war, Joseph went into the ministry and was a Presbyterian minister for some United Presbyterian churches in Nebraska and Iowa. Joseph's grandfather was one of the original settlers in Kiskiminates township. One of Joseph's brothers was General Samuel McCartney Jackson.
