Joseph Buffington Jackson was born to John
Jackson of Armstrong Co. and Elizabeth
McCartney of Indiana Co., on Nov 21, 1845 and died Jan 21, 1927.
He served as a Private of Company D, Second Battalion, Pennsylvania Infantry
Volunteers from 1863 to 1864. He married Caroline McNary
of Washington Co., on June 26, 1873 in Cannonsburg, PA. Caroline was the
daughter of William McNary and Margaret Murry.
Joseph came from a family of ten children and was one of five brothers to
serve in the Civil War. After the war, Joseph went into the ministry and was a
Presbyterian minister for some United Presbyterian churches in
Nebraska and Iowa. Joseph's grandfather was one of the original settlers in
Kiskiminates township. One of Joseph's brothers was General
Samuel McCartney Jackson.
