Solomon M. and Hannah Shirey

Solomon M. Shirey (1834–1925), son of John
Shiry, Sr. and Mary "Polly" Shaffer Shiry, of Redbank Twp., where Solomon was born.
Hannah L. Haven Nettleton
was Solomon's third wife.
They married on 21 Dec. 1909 in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Photo from picture postal card addressed to his sister,

Solomon M. Shirey served in the Civil War in Co. E, 11th Mich. Inf.
His first wife, Mary M. Alsbach, died in 1886 in
LaPlata, MO. He then remarried on 1 Jun 1888 to Emma G. Grubber. His Civil War Pension papers filed by him do not state what happened to her.
He was born in PA, moved to Michigan 1865–1880, then to Missouri 1880-1886; then to Montana from 1886 to 1899, then from 1899 to 1906 in Idaho, and from 1906 to 1912 in Orting, Washington, and died in Los Angeles,
CA, and is buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery.
He had 8 children to his first wife. They were: Anson Casey died in
MI as child; Sarah Ellen; Otis D. died in LaPlata, MO.,
Julia R., James E. (said to never have married),
Lillie M., Hiram O. Shirey never married, and
Blanch O.
Shirey. Children born from 1858 through 1875.
