Summit Twp. High School Basketball Team Photo 1926-27Submitted by K. J. "Pat" Corey Kenneth G. Corey, father of Pat, our submitter, is on the right side of the front row. He was born in Pennline and spent most of his youth in and around Harmonsburg. He worked at the Viscose in Meadville for seventeen years before joining the Pennsylvania Fish Commission as a Warden in 1950. He was assigned Snyder and Union Counties until 1956 when he was appointed to Warren county. He passed on in 1968. His father was Asa Alonzo Corey and his mother Leura Jemima Baker Corey. His grandfather was Asa Alfonzo Corey. Second from the right in the back row is his cousin Earl Baker who owned Berkey's Diner in Conneaut Lake for many years. Petey Hawk, in the front row, owned the gas station in Harmonsburg for many years across from Oscar's Barber Shop. There was some question as to whether the "S" stood for Summit or Sadsbury Twp. High School. The submitter's Aunt Bettie Corey Cowan, who's over eighty now, settled the situation with an unequivocal answer - "It was Summit Township". Pat is also looking for genealogical info on both Asa Alonzo Corey and Asa Alfonzo Corey, if anyone has them in their ancestors or has census data, please contact Pat. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
