Samuel Young was the son of William
Young and Mary Robinson, born in 1807 in Mercer County, PA, he married Catherine
Mercer in 1838.
Catherine Mercer was the daughter of William
Mercer and Jane Moore of Mercer County. She and Samuel became the parents
of children: Joshua, William Calvin, James Moore and John
Alfred Young.

In the 1840s Samuel moved his family to Allegheny Township of Venango County,
then moved to Crawford County in 1864. He purchased three farms in Crawford
County for his family, his farm was on Inlet Road north of Harmonsburg, on in
South Shenango Township and a third near Linesville.
