Frank Ray Cartwright

Submitted by William R. Huber, grandson

Frank Ray Cartwright (or as he liked to be called, Ray), son of John and Susanna Cartwright, photographed when he lived in New Castle. Ray did not talk about his motorcycle much but judging from the photo he had all of the necessary equipment of the time to be riding around New Castle on it. Notice his Masonic emblem attached to something on his waist.

Ray worked for American Steel, Tube and Pipe Co. in New Castle from 1910 until 1936. He started out as a messenger on April 23, 1910 and finished on June 1, 1959 as the Pay Master at Irvin Works USS in Pittsburgh.

One of his daughters, Jean, still lives in New Castle and the other two live in Pittsburgh and in Millsboro, Delaware.

A number of Ray's brothers and sisters still have descendents living in the New Castle area.
