"I was born in 1894 and was 80 years old on December 5, 1974. This dress
was the first garment placed on me and was purchased by my grandmother and given
to my mother as a present for her first grandchild. It was worn for a short
period on my 3 daughters as well as my first grandson, who was photographed in
it. He was born in 1941."
The above note, written by Georgianna Beard Cartwright,
was attached to the gown worn by the child in the picture and is still in
possession by the family. The young girl in the photo,
Georgianna Beard Cartwright wrote the note and is shown holding her first
born Evelyn Jean Cartwright Watkins.
