Old New Castle Street Car Submitted by Cindy Baughman, from the collection of Mary Cook Peterson Written on the back of the photo, probably written by Mary Cook Peterson: "This type street car was used in New Castle after the turn of the
century. R. J. Peterson [Robert
Peterson, Mary Cook Peterson's husband] was an operator on this type st.
car in 1906. He went to work on R.R. later as a brakeman, later on B & G as
Fireman was promoted Engineer in 1914. New Castle was a booming town back then.
Notice the (cowcatcher) on front of car. Man in front of car is Joe
Maxwell, on Mahoning town run, at old Gardner Ave. bridge. Joe Maxwell
just died spring of 1979 in his 80's." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
