Ruth Cartwright Watkins, second daughter of Georgianna Beard Cartwright, with her first born son Robert Watkins, wearing the gown in 1941. Ruth now lives in Millsboro, Delaware and Bob lives in Calabash, NC.

"I was born in 1894 and was 80 years old on December 5, 1974. This dress was the first garment placed on me and was purchased by my grandmother and given to my mother as a present for her first grandchild. It was worn for a short period on my 3 daughters as well as my first grandson, who was photographed in it. He was born in 1941."

The above note, written by Georgianna Beard Cartwright, was attached to the gown worn by the child in the picture and is still in possession by the family.
