John Harold Perrine, son of Roy E. and Emma Clara Woodling Perrine. He was born Aug 5, 1906 and died Feb 5, ___ in Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Swarthmore, PA. He married Eleanor Stewart Aug 3, 1931. She was born Feb. 16, 1909.

Obituary

J. Harold Perrine, a member of the Grove City College Board of Trustees for 24 years and a Mercer County native, died February 25, in Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Swarthmore following a stroke. His body was donated to the Human Gifts Registry to further medical research. A memorial service was held in Swarthmore Presbyterian Church

Mr. Perrine was born in 1906 in Jackson Township (Perrine's Corners). He graduated from Grove City College in 1930. He married the former Eleanor Stewart of Harrisville, Pa. She graduated from GCC in 1930 and survives him, along with two daughters and eight grandchildren.

A chemical engineering graduate, Perrine began work with Sun Oil Company, spent his first 14 years in research, accumulating 13 patents. He rose through the ranks of research and development, manufacturing and became Sun's director of industrial relations in 1961. In 1970 he was named corporate director of human resources, the post he held until retiring from Sun after 41 years.

He is a past GCC Alumni Trustee, was the first president of the Philadelphia Alumni Club, and was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1961, the same year he was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree. He helped to establish the college's first pension program.

Mr. Perrine was very active in community, professional and educational activities. For the last 24 years, he had been a very active member of the Crozer-Chester Medical Center and served as chairman of the Board of Directors from 1977-1980.
