Thomas and Nancy Adair HoustonThomas and Nancy were married in County Antrim, Ireland in June of 1832. They left very soon along with [we believe] his father John Houston and mother, Mary McBroom and their other children on the sailing ship The Clansman which left Belfast on June 20 and arrived in Baltimore on August 20, 1832. They traveled by wagon to Pittsburg, which, I believe, took them 12 weeks. They lived there until 1839 and then traveled to Findley Township in Mercer County where they purchased a farm, which became the family homestead and where they lived and raised their children until their deaths in 1898 and 1900. They had 10 children in all, but only seven lived to adulthood. The seven children were all present in 66th Wedding Anniversary photo, we believe: Mary, John, Robert, William, Hugh H., Thomas A. Jr., and James. Thomas died in 1898 and Nancy died about a year and a half later in 1900. They are buried in Findley Cemetery in Findley Township, as are several of their children. Research submitted by Jean Todd, great granddaughter of John Houston, and great-great granddaughter of Thomas and Nancy Adair Houston.
