Information about the people places or thing in the photo....

Information.  Include some information about the people and/or place in the photograph.

Suggestions:

Vitals: birth date, death date, marriage date. Format dates like Jan 8, 1985 or 8 Jan 1865, but NOT 01-08-65.

Family:  son or daughter of, mother or father of, descendant of, brother of, etc.  No abbreviations on relationships.  Most non-genealogists don't understand what s/o or d/o mean.

Lived where (abbreviate county and state, if you'd like)

Your relation to - we'll list son of, grandson of, great granddaughter of, etc. if you like after your name. Be sure it's easy to understand.

A note about surnames:  Please type the surnames in regular case - instead of ALL CAPS.

Type in normal sentence case type - just like you would if you were typing a letter to a friend.  Put as space after every comma like this:   Columbus, Ohio   not like: Columbus,Ohio

Please don't just send a family group sheet for me to figure out who is who.  I can't figure out my own family, I know I'll have a tough time with yours.

If the photo is of a place, try to tell what you know about the place, mostly, where it is - city, county, state.

If the photo is of a group of people, identify any of the people you can and also identify the "might be's"  (we'll list them as could be).

If it's a headstone photo, tell which cemetery and where it is located.

Send the information either in an email or a word, works or text document.  Please, please don't type the information on the photograph, the search engine won't find it unless it's typed on the page.

Try to make the information as clear as possible - write a description for each photo.  And every time you want to say "grandma" in your description - give me grandma's full name.  (You'd be surprised how many people forget to tell me the person's real name.)

And.... the easier it is to understand the copy for the photos, the quicker the photos get on line.
