Harry Mathews and Minnie Lawton Mathews in front of their store in Phoenix, Armstrong County, Pa.

Harry and Minnie moved from their farm that they had farmed since 1911 to the store in the 1936 after the construction of the Mahoning Dam flooded the farm. They had the store for a few years and then their son Howard Matthews ran it for a few years.
