Anna Drumm Werthmann is on the right, pictured with her aunt, Kathryn
Braunschlager (possibly Braunswager). Anna was married to John Werthmann, who
immigrated here in 1892. He was a Laborer at Fry's Glass Company and set up the
furnace for Fry's. Anna immigrated in 1882. Kathryn was married to Anna's uncle,
John Bieble. The 1910 Thirteenth Census of the United States lists John
Werthmann and Annie Drumm Werthmann as residents of Rochester Borough, Beaver
County, PA. Annie and John were both born in Germany, as were their parents. The
census was enumerated on April 20, 1910. John Werthmann was 43. Annie was 35.
They were married 16 years at the time. Their children were all born in
Pennsylvania: John, 15, was a Gatherer at Fry's. Mary T., 14
Joseph W. (Bill), 11
Annie, 9
Johanna, 7
Elizabeth F., 4
Rose, 2
They had two other children, Chuck and Helen, born after 1910. Chuck died in his
late 20s from an accidental gun shot in a barroom. Apparently, they thought it
was a play gun when it went off and ended his life. Chuck had planned to marry
Gerry Skillinger, but it never happened.
