William S. Askew

William S. Askew was from Coweta County, GA. He served as a private for the Confederate States of America.

He enlisted on 7 May 1861 in Co. A, 1st Volunteers Regiment Georgia and was discharged on 21 Aug 1861 in Monterey, VA.

He enlisted in Co. F, 16th Battalion Cavalry Regiment, Georgia on 2 May 1862, and was listed as a prisoner of war on 4 Dec 1863 at Knoxville, TN. He transferred in Co. F, 13th Cavalry Regiment Georgia on 2 May 1864.

Private Askew was paroled about 15 Feb 1865 at Fort Delaware, DE and was exchanged on 10 Mar 1865 at Boulware's Wharf, VA.
