Stoolmiller Bridge

I happened upon your great pictures and couldn't resist making a quick comment. The first member of my family to leave Birkenfelde, Prussia (Germany) and settle in the states was Adam Herwick and his wife Mary Ann. He was born in 1803 and arrived in the U.S. in 1845. He finally settled in the area between Rogue's Hollow and Canal Fulton, in the Clinton township. He was my great, great grandfather. The family historian, now long deceased, wrote this for our family to have. "Adam had a new young horse that bolted while Adam was on the Stoolmiller bridge in Warwick, Clinton, and it threw him over the railing onto the rocks below in Chippewa creek. The fall killed him on April 19, 1862." I'm sure that must be your family....and the guy in this picture would certainly been around when it happened. We have never found any written evidence of this occurrence, but feel pretty sure it is accurate. Thanks for listening and kindest regards, Ed.
