John Andrew Humphreys was born 12 Apr 1839 in Greenville, Limestone Twp, Clarion Co, PA., son of Thomas and Mary Ann (Anderson) Humphreys. He died 15 Dec 1898 in Strattanville, Clarion Co, PA and was buried in Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Corsica, Jefferson Co, PA.
John married Eliza Jane McMillen, daughter of Robert McMillen and Nancy Moore, on 15 Feb 1859 in McMillen House, Mahoning Twp, Armstrong Co, PA. Eliza was born 23 Mar 1839 in PA. She died on 10 Oct 1904. They had 6 children: Thomas Norris, Ida Medora, Laura Rose, Nancy Margaret, Robert Maxwell and Iva Maud.
John enlisted 25 Sep 1861 at Oakland, in Co. D 103 PA Vols., was captured at Plymouth, SC 20 April 1864 and sent to Andersonville, then Florence. Paroled at Charleston, SC 13 Dec 1864, mustered out 25 Jan 1865. John was a miller and millwright and lived in Millcreek and Clarion townships, Clarion Co, PA and Port Barnett, Jefferson Co, PA.
