Ulysses Stephen McCracken

Barrie, Your great great grandpappy is indeec Philemon's first child.
He is named after General Grant by way of his first name only.
The middle "S" is not for Simpson (Grant) but for Stephen Rought,
Medal of Honor winner for yankin the rebel flag at the battle of the
Wilderness in Virginia. Stephen was youngest brother of Philemon's
first wife Matilda Arvilla Rought. They had 10 children, she died, then Philemon md. my grandmother, Sarah Ann Handley of Buffalo,
West Virginia -- my home state. The second mg. involved 6 more

McCracken Family History

Hi Ronnie,

Sorry it took so long for a reply, three years, just found your response. I took some time away from the family history due to work commitments, but back into discovering new info.
I hope this now finds you back in West Virginia. I have relocated to Naples Florida from Michigan.
As I stated before my line of McCrackens come from Philemon's first marriage, his daughter Henrietta "Etta" McCracken Deutsch (Kabel). She was lived in Detroit, Michigan. Blanche and Katie stayed with her from time to time. Katie lived in California and Denzil lived with her during some of his years working for Standard Oil. After looking for info, was there just two marriages for Philemon, some where I saw a third marriage to Elsie Beegle or is Elsie married to Philemon, Jr.
Anyway, thanks for the response, I hope we can contact again. contact: mgr7650 at aol.com

?
