My great great grandfather Peter Hopfer was born in 1828-29 in Northumberland Co. PA He was an orphan who was raised by James Glidewell who moved from Point Twp, right near Nurthumberland Borough. When Peter was around 7 years old James moved his family to Muncy Valley in Lycoming Co. PA, then to Davidsob Twp, Columbisa Co. PA, taking Peter with him. We don't know who Peter's parents were or at what age he was orphaned. He did mention on his Civil War records that he was "borne a HOFFER" Do you have any record of a missing ancestor?
