Sober Family Farm
Sober Family Farm, located in Armstrong Co., Gilpin Twp., PA.
Daniel Newton Sober bought this farm in 1908 at a tax sale. It was the property of the Daniel Hill Family, beginning in the 1800s.
The farm was 210 acres. The house was built around 1840s and it is believed that it was the second house built on the property.
Daniel Newton Sober, along with his sons Robert Miller Sober and George Howard Sober operated, what was called The Kiski Dairy Farm. The farm operated as a dairy farm, until the middle 1950s and then converted to raising beef cattle.
The house is still there today, 2002, restored and has historical placard on the front door. The barn was torn down in the 1960s.
The original photo hung on the wall of the farm. It is now the possession of Glenn E. Sober, grandson of Daniel Newton Sober.
Photo probably taken between 1910 and 1920 by a traveling photographer.
