Maggie Susan Downing, born about 1896, died before 1953 married first Oscar Glenn Courson and had the following children: Bertha Peninah Courson, Ida Mae Courson, unknown girl Courson who died as an infant. Second, she married Peter Metz and had the following children: Charles P. Metz, James W. Metz, Floyd Metz, Henry Metz, Roscoe Metz, Helen Metz, infant daughter Metz who died in infancy. Third, she married "Arden" Schrecengost/Schreckengost and had Gladys Schrecengost/Schreckengost.

Elizabeth (possibly Heeter) Downing is the mother of Maggie Susan Downing Courson Metz Shrecegost/Schrecengost.

Bertha Peninah Courson (1910-1994) was the daughter of Maggie Susan Downing and Oscar Glenn Courson. Bertha married Lloyd Earl Johnston. They had five children: Betty, Dorothy, Norma, James, Judy and lost two infant sons.

Betty Johnston is the young girl in the photo. Her parents are Bertha Peninah Courson and Lloyd Earl Johnston.

Bertha Peninah Courson Johnston and her Courson family were from Clarion Co., PA. The Downing family (at the time of the photo) and Bertha's family resided in Armstrong Co., PA. The Johnston family (Bertha's husband's family) were from Westmoreland Co., PA.
