CIVIL WAR VETERANS SHINGLEHOUSE PA.

The first man standing from the left could be my great-great grandfather KILLIAN WILLIAM SCHAFER SACKiNGER. Served in the Civil War 1861-1865. Born 1832 Died 1912. He lived in Alleghany, N.Y.

Why do they all look so old?

Why do they all look so old?

Civil War Veterans

Probably they all were 70 to 80 years old. Most likely the photo was taken in the late 1910s - early 1920s. The Veterans would have been born about 1840-1845, so most of them were old at the time.
