Charles Henderson Mitcheltree
Charles Henderson Mitcheltree was born on 30 June 1844 in Shenango Township, Mercer County, PA to Samuel J. Mitcheltree and Mary W. Clarke. His grandparents were William Mitcheltree and Laura Tylee. Two of his sisters, both younger, were Laura E. Mitcheltree and Letitia Jane "Jennie" Mitcheltree.
He served in the Civil War Company M 6th Regiment 212th PA Heavy/Artillery and was a member of the Alonzo Mc Call GAR post. After the war, he was a farmer.
Charles Henderson Mitcheltree married twice. First to Mary Clarke (5 June 1837 - 13 June 1880), daughter of David and Susanna Clarke. They had six children. Three of their children married and two left descendants.
His second marriage was to Allie Pauline Furey DeGarmo (20 November 1858 - 23 May 1940), the widow of Seth DeGarmo and the daughter of Charles Furey and Sarah Henning. They had nine children; five of them left descendants.
One of Charles Henderson Mitcheltree's grandchildren was Chloie Gilliland Mitcheltree.
Charles Henderson Mitcheltree died on 25 February 1902 in Shenango Township, Mercer County, and is buried in Mercer Citizen's Cemetery, Findley Township.
