Mahan Nelson General Store, Lander, PA 1919

Mahan Nelson General Store, Lander, PA 1919

Looks like the sign on the building reads "Mahan Nelson General Store"

Could be Mahane Nelson.

Lower right corner reads "LeRoy Plows"

Lander General Store

My dad's father co-owned that store in the 1920s and '30s, and lived across the street. Don't know about the "Mahan" though -- my father always called it the Nelson and Swanson General Store. He told of it being lit by a Carbide acetylene generator in the basement, where he had the occasional and unpleasantly stinky job of mucking out the spent mineral.
