This appears to be taken in front of Lane Shops which was a foundry in Montpelier, Vt. The men are standing around a large sled that used to run down Main Street Hill in the Winter.

Montpelier native of many generations...

They use to have sled races down E. State street each winter. This is most likely a photo take from one of the old Rail/ Granite ware houses in the area of the now "Food-COOP". These guys probably made these sleds for the event.
